Despite reassurances one day earlier that President Joe Biden does not have COVID-19, a new statement from White House press secretary Jen Psaki is casting doubt on her previous comments.
Psaki stated that Biden is “asymptomatic” after coming in close contact with a staffer that later tested positive for COVID-19, according to Associate Press White House reporter Darlene Superville.
“He’s asymptomatic. I spent several hours with him this morning and he is feeling great,” Psaki said.
Despite this statement, Superville continued on to clarify that Psaki said Biden has not tested positive for the virus, has no symptoms, and will be tested again tomorrow.
Psaki was questioned about Biden’s COVID-19 status during Monday’s press briefing at the White House.
She said that Biden, despite an outbreak of COVID-19 in the White House and in various DC agencies, he isn’t being kept in quarantine, and has had a “full schedule.”
“We will provide information to all of you as outlined with our commitment from just a few months ago about being transparent about close contacts. I don’t have any updates for you at this point in time. But again, we expect there to be breakthrough cases across the country, right? And certainly in the federal government,” Psaki continued on Monday.
Despite Psaki’s assurances that Biden does not have COVID-19, Twitter users questioned the usage of the word “asymptomatic,” which seems to suggest sickness.
